Every once in a while, when I am really starting to be concerned that I am raising my children in a party town, a den of iniquity completely lacking in any cultural integrity, an opportunity like this pops up. A few weeks back, just before Taste of Playa, we were invited to attend a special event at Xcaret, a wine tasting evening organized to kick off the 1st annual Festival of Mexican Wines scheduled for March 9-12 2011. Some of Mexico's finest wine producers, Santo Thomas, Monte Xanic, Casa Domecq and Casa Madero, offered tastes of more than 20 of their best wines to a crowd of over 1000.
