It may seem hard to believe but sometimes we just have to get away from our hectic day to day in Playa del Carmen and escape to somewhere even more laid back. For some years now, that place has been San Pedro, a gritty little Caribbean town on Ambergris Caye just off the coast of Belize. Regular "Life's a Beach" readers who have been following our adventures through Mexico and Central America over the past 4+ years will recall many rum soaked jaunts to the island and watched us collect a great group of friends along the way. So, whenever our work and the kids' school-futbol-riding schedules allow, we are quick to jump in the car and head south for the border to raise a little hell and watch the expat shenanigans in someone else's town. So far, this trip has not disappointed. We have enjoyed breakfast and BBQ at Estel's every morning. The kids have had fun making friends on the beach at Caribbean Villas while Rob and I tuck into fresh ceviche and cold Belikins. The weather has been a bit dodgy this week with storms blowing through almost every afternoon and forcing us inside to escape the elements. Still, a rainy day in San Pedro finds me blogging from Pedro's Bar, catching up on the local gossip and watching football...and how bad is that, really? Feels like the start of a very good year to me!
