The "Rosca de Reyes", also known as "Twelfth Night Bread" and "Roscon de Reyes", is historically served on the evening of January 5, before the "Dia de Reyes". The origin of "roscón" appears related to the ancient Roman holiday, Saturnalia. This was a celebration dedicated to the god Saturn in order that the Roman people in general could celebrate the longer days that began to come after the winter solstice. Read More...
There is a lot of really good food in Belize. Off the top of my head, some of my most fondly remembered meals have been served up at Hannah's in San Ignacio, El Fogon in San Pedro and Miss Robina's roadside lean-to in Burrell Boom! It may seem hard to believe but sometimes we just have to get away from our hectic day to day in Playa del Carmen and escape to somewhere even more laid back. For some years now, that place has been San Pedro, a gritty little Caribbean town on Ambergris Caye just off the coast of Belize.
