Last Thursday evening Calle Corazon was abuzz with activity as the Riviera Maya's own celebrity chef, John Gray, rolled out a new bar menu for his casually elegant lounge, The Den. Friends from near and far braved the heat and tropical rain to come downtown for an evening of food and fun. Incorporating elements from the newly revamped dinner menu at John Gray's Place and items from the new menu concept recently initiated at John Gray's Downtown in Cancun, the new bar menu features some of the Chef's signature items. Guests snacked on delicate thin crust pizzas and crostinis topped with steak tartar, savory mushroom duxelle and the famous house pate with caramelized onion marmalade. Fresh off the new Downtown menu and new to John's loyal contingent of Playa patrons were the juicy sliders made with hand-ground Angus beef and John's homemade, house smoked sausages. Of course, Chef Gray was on hand to meet and greet and discuss the new menu. General Manager Robb Hiner and his well orchestrated staff kept the crowd well lubricated with complimentary cocktails and made sure everyone had a chance to sample each of the tasty culinary treats. It was standing room only with every seat filled, inside and out. This new reasonable priced casual dining option is just another bright feather in the cap of the John Gray Restaurant Group and will surely be popular with local residents and tourists alike.
