One of the very few planned activities for this leg of our journey was a day of fishing. Not an afternoon spent trolling around in the hot sun, choking on diesel fumes mind you….proper fishing, casting out and reeling in, something fun for the kids. Paul H. hooked us up with Ali, the bartender at Crazy Canucks, and made arrangements for us to meet at the end of the Paradise Villas pier at noon. As planned, after a lovely breakfast at Estel’s, we met up with Ali and his mate Brian and headed out to sea.

Birdie and Cole riding the bow.

Captain Birdie!

Beautiful healthy mangrove - the perfect place to find bait fish.

Ali getting the net ready.

The perfect moment.

Shiny, slippery sardines.

Birdie got the hang of it right away.

Is there anything better than the look of accomplishment and pride on your child's face?

Brian helping Cole set the hook.

Success!! Kudos to Ali and Brian for a wonderful day on the water. They were really great with the kids and kept us on fish all afternoon. I look forward to fishing with them again!

Why do the fish look so much smaller with Rob ;)

My handsome boys.

Back at the pier, Ali filets some of our catch leaving some whole, scaled and gutted.

The usual suspects appear for dinner.

Several rays turned up for the feast. They are like prehistoric "Roombas".

Last time we went fishing in San Pedro, we turned up for a BBQ empty handed. Not this time! We arrived with cold Belikins and several kilos of fresh snapper. Cindy and Paul did us the honor of cooking up an amazing feast.

Fresh whole Snapper cooked on the grill with lime and ginger.

Dreaming about the one that got away. Sleep tight my little fisherman.
