Saturday November 19, 2011, from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, Parque la Ceiba will hold its regular "tianguis" (pronounced tee-an-geese). Tianguis is a Nahuatl word from the Aztecs which refers to an open-air market. The Mexican tianguis, traditionally, will be set up on a certain day in certain neighborhood. The Red Cross of Playa del Carmen is holding a fundraising bazaar next Saturday, November 26th in its location on the corner of Avenida 25 and Juarez. In preparation for this event, El Papalote School has been selected as the location to meet, gather and organize the materials to sell and distribute. Needed are donations of clothing, footwear, household goods, toys and books - all semi-new but clean and in good condition will be gladly accepted. Read More...

Isla Mujeres will host the 6th annual Caribe Maya Cultural Festival November 16 - 20. The festival will take place in various locations on the island including the Municipal Plaza and Hacienda Mundaca. There will be and live music, theater, dance, art exhibitions, lectures and presentations from the participating artists. More than 300 artists from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, among others, will participate in this year's festival with Puerto Rican salsa singer Eddie Santiago as the featured performer.
