Dinner and Wine with the Tulum Rotary Club!
Come out and support an amazing
cause benefitting the local Riviera Maya community! The Tulum Rotary Club will
be hosting a dinner and wine tasting event in early October to raise funds and
awareness for the incredible medical work that they are doing with nearby Mayan
communities as well as low-income families.

The Tulum Rotary Club is currently
involved in a variety of medical programs to help people in the area who
otherwise might not have access to information and treatment. Some of their
programs include:
-
An education and prevention program
for sexually transmitted diseases (especially AIDS) in the community of Yaxché,
including informational posters in Spanish and Mayan, testing kits, and liaison
services with doctors
-
An educational program teaching
local children about brushing their teeth and good oral hygiene
-
Working with teams of doctors from
the United States who travel to Campeche, Merida and Chetumal to operate on
children from low-income families, especially children with cleft palates. This
October, a team of doctors and nurses will be volunteering in Merida for Rotary
International together with a Florida hospital, and the Tulum Rotary Club is
sending 2 children for operations. These teams of doctors typically come down
every 2 - 3 years, operating on 30 - 40 children a day for a week.
The Tulum Rotary Club dinner and
wine tasting will be held on Friday, October 4 at 7:30 pm at Kinich restaurant
in downtown Tulum.
Organized with Kinich restaurant and Off The Vine, the
dinner has a donation cost of just $400 pesos. Tulum Rotary Club President
Maggie Perez (the first female president in the organization's 9-year history) will
be hosting this memorable event for a great cause.
If you're interested in getting
involved, the Tulum Rotary Club meets every Tuesday night at 8:30 pm at Kinich
restaurant.
