The Kid's Way Themes that we have covered so far:

Ahimsa: non-violence
Santosha: happiness/contentment
Samadi: the light within/pure bliss
Prana: our life force
Apana: letting go of what is not needed.
Shauca: purity, cleanliness
Satya: Truth, honesty
Aparigraha: Control of greed, sharing

The theme for this week is FUN!!!! We have been studying the 8-fold path of yoga for the last months and have learned about living a life of honesty, non-violence, cleanliness, happiness, discipline, surrender, generosity and bliss. We are looking forward to 2 weeks of rest and relaxation for Semana Santa and want to close this series of our classes with a class solely dedicated to remembering that FUN is a very important part of life too!!! After this Friday, class will be on hiatus until Friday April 20th.

The Kid's Way Yoga class meets every Friday at 4:30 pm at Yoga by the Way on calle 26 between 5th and 10th. The classes are best suited for children from ages 4-8. The cost is $70 mn per child, per class. Parents please bring your children up to studio level. Comfortable clothes and a bottle of water are recommended. Class begins on time and ends promptly at 5:30 pm. Please pick up your child at studio level.

When I heard my 7 year old daughter Leila exclaim, "Aparigraha!" in the shower as she was encouraging her younger sister Luci to share a toy with her, I knew that last week's class was a winner. - Eli Gregg Instructor

We are going to repeat the theme of Aparigraha/sharing because that is one of the easiest ways for children to learn how to create harmony in their world. Aparigraha is the sanscrit term asks for the control of greed and the encouragement of sharing. We will learn our word and what it means, chanting, headstands, back bends, chance for your child to briefly lead the class, Apargraha Frisbee Art project, and a closing chant that promotes peace and harmony. Love is far more important than money. If you have spiritual knowledge, share with others who are in need and with those who wish to have it—those who are receptive. Give, share, love.

Mundo Magico - Afterschool Activities at Parque la Ceiba

Dharma Yoga Playa is the only studio in town where students pay whatever they want to pay for their class. Classes include Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and basic Hatha Yoga. We have different teachers daily, to expose the student to different styles. We think yoga is for everyone, and we want you to come practice.

Beginning this Saturday November 26, Spanish Joyfully with Katya and Felipe will be offering FREE conversational Spanish Classes!

Classes will meet on Saturdays from 4:30pm - 5:45pm at El Racó on Ave. 25 between calles 28 y 26 (in the Casona Bldg.)

*El Racó is offering the group a 10% discount on all food and beverage items!
*All levels of Spanish students are welcome!
*We will play "Vocabulary Bingo" to support conversation with mixed levels of Spanish
*This is a great way to work on your Spanish and make new friends!

Weekly Meditation with Kendall Inman at Dharma Yoga

Join Kendall Inman every Wednesday evening at 8:30pm for meditation at Dharma Yoga Playa in the Alhambra Hotel.

In this ongoing series, participants will explore different aspects of meditation and preparation. Guidance and assistance will be provided so everyone is able to find the best way to position themselves for meditation so that everyone is comfortable and at ease.

You will want to wear comfortable lose fitting clothes.
If you have a favorite meditation cushion, please bring it.
You can also use two beach towels, 2-3 firm Mexican blankets, a mat and a pillow etc.
There are chairs available for those that are unable to sit comfortably on the floor.

Dharma Yoga Playa is a donation based studio where the intention is to practice first and pay whatever you can afford. Donations received will be used to cover the cost of the space and to purchase additional Mexican blankets for seating...so eventually there will be an abundance.

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle! We all know we should do it but how do we know we are doing it right? Are we doing all we can to reduce our carbon footprint and keep the Riviera Maya clean and beautiful.

On Wednesday October 12, 2011 Moce Yax Cuxtal AC will begin a series of workshops on how to properly recycle at home and at work. Workshops will be held in Col. Ejido Playa del Carmen on Calle 19 between Avenidas 65 and 70. Dates and times will vary. The cost is $107 mn per person per class.

Oct. 10, 2011 - Aerial Dance Classes at Yoga by the Way

Want to try something different in your exercise routine and learn a new skill? Beginning today, October 10, 2011, Yoga by the Way will be offering a course in "Danza Aerea" or Aerial Dancing.

Aerial Dance is a modern dance form which is accomplished incorporating one or a series of fabric bands attached to the ceiling or other support devise. Working up and down these bands allows performers to "dance" in three-dimensions, exploring both vertical and horizontal space. There is a learning curve and a certain amount of strength and mobility is required. This class is for beginners and no talent scouts from Cirque du Soleil will be present. ;)

Classes will be help Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon til 2:00 pm. Try it out and have some fun!
