Last week, the Yoga theme was PRANA ....All yoga practices ultimately engage the movement of prana—the innate life force. This week we turn our attention to APANA —of equal importance in the practice of yoga. While prana governs the intake functions, apana, which is most active in the pelvis and lower abdomen, governs the eliminative functions and the downward and outward flow of energy in the body. The focus is on teaching children that its important to let go of what is not needed.

Funky sun salutes. followed by our favorite asanas and asanas that encourage the movement of apana, an art project and a closing chant that promotes peace, harmony and love. See you there!!! Namaste ♥

The Kid's Way Yoga class meets every Friday at 4:30 pm at Yoga by the Way on calle 26 between 5th and 10th. The classes are best suited for children from ages 4-8. The cost is $70 mn per child, per class. Parents please bring your children up to studio level. comfortable clothes and a bottle of water is recommended. Class begins on time and ends promptly at 5:30 pm. Please pick up your child at studio level.

This week we will be talking about PRANA which is our individual life force that comes into our bodies through our breath. The kids will learn the word and what it means, we will do some pranyama breathing, sun salutations and heart openers, an art project where the kids will be encouraged to create a visual of their life force and we will close with and ancient Sanskrit chant that promotes peace, love and unity. :)

Jan. 6, 2012 - The Kids Way Yoga Class (Samadhi)

We are going to repeat the last class of the year since so many of our students were in their school posadas. It was a beautiful class and a wonderful way to begin a new year!

Class theme for this week is SAMADHI. The ultimate goal of the eightfold path to yoga is samadhi or absolute bliss. This is pure contemplation, super-consciousness, in which you and the universe are one. Those who have achieved samadhi are enlightened. In honor of Christmas we will talk about living a life as if the light of heaven is on in you. Physical practice will include funky sun salutes, lots of stretching and leg strengtheners.

We will have an art project with a NEW YEAR TREE and an ancient chant that promotes peace. OM SHANTI SHANTI OM....NAMASTE.....PEACE ON EARTH :)

Jan. 11 - 13, 2012 - Auditions for "Seussical the Musical"

Following the success of "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Pippin" and "CATS" Explayarte is pleased to announce its next production: "Seussical the Musical".

The show will be produced as an intensive musical theatre workshop for performers ages 13 and up.

Rehearsals at Explayarte will run for four months beginning in January and culminating with performances in April.

The monthly cost for the workshop will be $750 mn. (January $450 mn)
