Looking for a fun family event for this Saturday evening!? Look no further than this fun theater circus show! All the way from Argentina the Mandrágora Circo is sure to dazzle!

For only $50 pesos a person you will be amazed by clowns, acrobatics, music, and other traditional circus acts put together in a non-traditional theater format that flows like circus poetry. This event will be held in the Teatro 8 de Octubre on the corner of Avenida Tulum and Avendida Chichen Itza in downtown Cancun.

December 2012 Events at Lol Ha Akumal!

Our friend Laura at Lol Ha Restaurant in Akumal has been kind enough to provide us with an update on new offerings at the restaurant and fun Akumal events to enjoy during the month of December and into the New Year!All of these events will also be posted on the BuyPlaya Riviera Maya Events Calendar!

Lol Ha's exciting and wildly popular Flamenco Show starts December 19th and every Wednesday throughout the high season. The show starts at 7:30pm. Reservations are recommended.

Live Music with Arpason begins Thursday December 20th and continues through the high season. Cuban, gypsy, and Mexican passion closely joined, fused, and rich in interpretation, with a unique seal: harp, violin and percussion! Showtime is at 7:30pm. Reservations are recommended.

Lol Ha is in the process of organizing a wonderful Christmas Festival at Plaza Ukana to take place on on December 23rd. Akumal's own Natalie Novak will be singing Christmas Carols! The event will take place in the late afternoon, ending by dinner time to allow everyone to get on with their holiday plans.

The very popular Lol Ha Sunday Seafood Pasta Bar will be offered on December 23rd and every Sunday after that.

Christmas Dinner will be served at Lol Ha Restaurant December 24th and 25th. Dinner will be off the A la Carte Menu with terrific Christmas specials! Reservations are required and a deposit of $10 USD per person is required in advance. Contact lolha@hotelakumalcaribe.com for more information.

Natalie and the Foxes, (the Blues band that can often be heard accompanying Natalie when she plays in Playa del Carmen), will be playing at the North Palapa on December 29th. Dog Wash Days at the New Playa Animal Rescue Shelter

Beginning July 14, 2012, the much loved Saturday Dog Washes will resume at the NEW Playa Animal Rescue shelter facility in Playa del Carmen! Anyone wishing to participate can gather in the parking lot of Mega on Ave. 30 and Constituyentes before 11:30 am on every Saturday (weather permitting). The shelter is located just about 10 minutes north by car and transportation is provided out and back. If you are looking for something to do on a Saturday and you love animals, this is the place to be. If you have just moved to Playa and are looking for new friends, this is a great place to meet nice, community-minded people.

There is no charge but donations of cash and food are much needed and greatly appreciated!

Tuesday Night Bike Rides in Playa del Carmen!!

Looking for something fun to do on a Tuesday night in Playa del Carmen? Want to meet new friends, learn about Playa and get some exercise? Join the Tuesday night bike rides!

The group meets in Calle Corozon every Tuesday night at 8:40pm. Calle Corazon is the extension of calle 14 running between 5th and 10th Ave. Participants must have a bicycle, helmet and lights for safety. The ride lasts about 45-60 minutes and more or less follows the route posted below. If you are new to Playa, this is a great way to get to know your new city a bit better and make some new friends!

Saturday "Tianguis" at Parque la Ceiba

Every Saturday from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, Parque la Ceiba holds its regular "tianguis" (pronounced tee-an-geese). Tianguis is a Nahuatl word from the Aztecs which refers to an open-air market. The Mexican tianguis, traditionally, will be set up on a certain day in certain neighborhood. Markets can be specialized to one particular product or varied, taking on the feel of a flea market.

The tianguis at Parque la Ceiba attracts craftspeople and artisans to gather and offer their wares and services. Local families and small farmers will offer fresh produce, the park's nursery will be selling indigenous plants and consultations with traditional Maya healers will be available. The park is open to the public free of charge and is a wonderful gathering place for local families.

This Saturday, Tianguis presents: "Huateque Decembrinas" a popular festival full of colors and flavors of the season. Posada, pastorale and piñatas for children and adults. Feast on mucbipollos (a seasoned chicken tamale wrapped in plantain leaves and cooked in an underground barbeque pit), tortas with cochinita pipil or relleno negro and traditional holiday "ponce" (fruit punch). This will be the last bazaar before the holidays so be sure to stop in and find some unique gifts for your friends and family!
