St. Patrick's Day Bash at The Luna Blue Hotel

Once again, Tony and Cheri at the Luna Blue Hotel hosted the "it" party for St. Patrick's Day! Packed to the palapa with locals and tourists alike, the Tiki Bar was hopping as Chris Bolister cranked out traditional Irish tunes and a long playlist of favorites. Business was so brisk, the bar even ran out of beer at one point! There were people dancing in the garden and smiling faces everywhere you looked. St. Patrick's Day could otherwise have gone unnoticed in this part of the world so a big "thank you" to Tony and Cheri for going to great lengths to provide us with a little taste of back home here in our new home, Playa del Carmen. Brent Parkin Plays The Tiki Bar at The Luna Blue Hotel

Last night was the first of a string of limited engagements that Canadian Blues player , Brent Parkin with be performing at The Tiki Bar at The Luna Blue Hotel in Playa del Carmen. For those of you who have not yet had the pleasure on an evening with Brent, you are in for a real treat. Having played with legendary performers such as B.B. King, James Cotton and Bo Diddley, Brent has developed his own unmistakable musical stylings that have made him a favorite of Blues afficionados across North America. Brent and his wife Laura are only with us here in Playa del Carmen for one month, so be sure to catch him Tuesday nights at The Luna Blue and keep an eye on the new event postings on our "Life's a Beach" Facebook Page for other local appearances.

Obamamania at Luna Blue's Tiki Bar!!

For those of us unable to make the pilgrimage to Washington D.C. to witness history and the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States of America, The Tiki Bar at The Luna Blue Hotel was the place to be! Packed to the rafters with American ex-pats, tourists and curious onlookers from around the world, The Luna Blue Hotel was positively electrified with excitement. Tony and Cheri, always the consumate hosts, worked the room and made everyone, Democrats and Republicans, from near and far feel like, at least for today, Barack Obama was everyone's President. Cheeseburgers were flying off the grill. Jorge, once again, proved his worth serving up celebratory cocktails, one after the other. Chris Bolister pulled out all the stops with a surprizingly comprehensive repertoire of our favorite patriotic tunes. Special guest "Ginger", dressed (barely) in stars and stripes, posed for pictures and worked the crowd, handing out Tony and Cheri's special concoction for the evening, "Obama's Mama's Apple Pie Slammers".

I can honestly say, the turnout for the events at The Luna Blue just keeps getting bigger and bigger. It was nice to see so many friendly faces, everyone so excited and happy. Thanks to Tony and Cheri for inviting us all in to share and celebrate our renewed hopes and dreams for our country!
