Have you ever wondered what life is like in a Maya village today? What would it look like? How would the local people really dress, eat, work, pray and go about their daily lives? Are you interested in a cultural experience more meaningful than a quick stop for souvenirs orchestrated by a big bus tours on your way home from the ruins. Personally, I am always on the look-out for these kinds of opportunities and this visit to the town of Señor arranged by Ojos Mayas and Xyaat Ecoturismo Comunitario Maya was just what I had been hoping for. For those staying put, the challenge is always "What to do with the children?". When school is out and most of the extracurricular activities have been suspended for the summer months there is a huge gap to be filled in the daily lives of our young ones. Many families, especially those with two working parents, will be looking for fun summer programs to fill the time for their restless nin@s. Read More...
The Mesoamerican Reef (MAR) is the largest barrier reef in the Atlantic and stretches over 1000 km from the tip of the Yucatán Peninsula down to the Bay Islands of Honduras. It provides a habitat for a vast array of marine life that rely on the coral for food and shelter. They also function as natural barriers to protect the coastline from the damaging effects of storms and coastal erosion. Read More...
