1st Annual "Buy Playa 5K for Ak Lu'um" Draws A Great Crowd!
Yesterday, nearly 100 walkers and runners gathered at the Leona Vicario Park in Playa del Carmen to participate in the 1st Annual "Buy Playa San Valentin 5K" to benefit Ak Lu'um International School. The morning air was sharp and cool, the perfect temperature for a run through the streets on Playa del Carmen. As our daughter attends, the Riviera Maya's only not for profit private school, Rob and I were pleased to sign on as the title sponsor. Considering that this was the first year Ak Lu'um has attempted an event of this nature, we were all very impressed with the turnout and the organization of the run. The registration ran smoothly, professional timekeepers were brought in from Cancun and the Municipality cooperated with extra Police on hand to stop traffic and ensure the safely of the runners on Playa's busy streets. Prizes were awarded in several divisions: Adult male, adult female, children and first family to cross the line together! We had runners and walkers of all ages!
