Digging in at The Peanut Pet Shelter
Yesterday afternoon, about 20 hardworking, soft-hearted volunteers, locals and tourists alike, came together at Playa del Carmen's beloved Peanut Pet Shelter to help Andy, Jen and Adam fufill their dreams of a safe, clean sanctuary for the town's four-legged unloved and unwanted. For three hours we shoveled, carted and raked 27 tons of sand across the grounds of the new enclosure for the shelter. It was long hard work, but in the end, watching the dogs run and play and warm themselves in the bright Caribbean sun was reward enough. The free beer was a nice bonus. Here are some pictures from the day. I'm sorry I don't have everyone's name but a great big "Thank you" to you all.
