The theme for this week is FUN!!!! We have been studying the 8-fold path of yoga for the last months and have learned about living a life of honesty, non-violence, cleanliness, happiness, discipline, surrender, generosity and bliss. We are looking forward to 2 weeks of rest and relaxation for Semana Santa and want to close this series of our classes with a class solely dedicated to remembering that FUN is a very important part of life too!!! This week's theme is "Ahimsa" or non-harming in Sanskrit. We will talk about how to make non-violent choices towards ourselves and others with our thoughts, words and actions. Living a non-harming life brings about peace, harmony, love and happiness. We will learn our word and what it means, chanting, headstands, back bends, chance for your child to breifly lead the class, Apargraha Frisbee Art project, and a closing chant that promotes peace and harmony. Last week, the Yoga theme was PRANA ....All yoga practices ultimately engage the movement of prana—the innate life force. This week we turn our attention to APANA —of equal importance in the practice of yoga. While prana governs the intake functions, apana, which is most active in the pelvis and lower abdomen, governs the eliminative functions and the downward and outward flow of energy in the body. Class theme for this week is SAMADHI. The ultimate goal... of the eightfold path to yoga is samadhi or absolute bliss. This is pure contemplation, super-consciousness, in which you and the universe are one. Those who have achieved samadhi are enlightened.
